A dark comedy set in the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters explores the heroic tale of Agnes as she comes to terms with the death of her sister, Tilly. When she finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons campaign book she embarks on an adventure into Tilly’s preferred reality. In this high-octane comedy replete with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and more cosplay than you can shake a quarterstaff at, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen, (Vietgone, Living Dead in Denmark) offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

  • IRL Agnes Evans – Tilly’s older sister. Brutally average. Doesn’t get the whole “D&D thing.” English teacher.
    In-Game Agness the Ass-hatted. Level 1 Who Knows? A slightly lost soul.
  • IRL Tilly Evans – Nerdy, tomboy, closeted lesbian. Dies in car crash age 15.
    In-Game Tillius the Paladin, level 20 Paladin. Leader of the adventurers.
  • IRL Miles – Agnes’ boyfriend. Afraid of commitment. Former jock type.
    In-Game A Gelatinous Cube.
  • IRL Chuck – Game Store employee.
    In-Game DM Biggs. Game Master.
  • IRL Lily – Average, closeted. Tilly’s first kiss.
    In-Game Lilith Morningstar – Demon Queen. Leather-clad, sarcastic, serious, self-aware. Girlfriend of Tillius.
  • IRL Kelly – Has Cerebral Palsy, uses forearm crutches to walk. Ronnie’s little sister.
    In-Game Kalipe Darkwalker – Dark Elf. Master tracker, lock picker, magic-user,
    ass-kicker.
  • IRL Ronnie – Kelly’s older brother. Nice, normal guy.
    In-Game Orcus – Red Demon. Former Overlord of the Underworld. Comedic relief.
  • IRL Vera – Agnes’ BFF. School counselor.
    In-Game The Beholder – a single-eyeballed monster with sharp, shark-like teeth.
  • IRL Steve – Classmate of Tilly’s. Nice guy.
    In-Game Mage Steve – A Redshirt.
  • IRL Gabbi and Tina – Cheerleader bullies of Tilly.
    In-Game Evil Gabbi and Evil Tina – Succubi cheerleaders. Pure evil.
  • In-Game Farrah – Forest Fairy. Low-level boss fight. She may be little, but she is fierce.
  • In-Game Assorted monsters – Bug Bears, Orcs, and Tiamat, a five-headed dragon.
